Manu Tuilagi and Delon Armitage scored tries as England ended their Globe Cup preparations with victory above Ireland at Aviva Stadium. Tuilagi, who was extremely remarkable in only his 2nd Examination visual appeal, and Armitage touched down in each half with Jonny Wilkinson landing two conversions and two penalties.
The kicking of Ronan O'Gara kept Ireland in sight, but the property facet ended up reeling from the damage of openside David Wallace to a knee harm that puts his Planet Cup participation in grave question.
England raced out of the blocks but their pleasing start, which swept them swiftly into the opposition 22, was undone by a failure to make quick ball. Their perform slowed, but there was nothing ponderous about the shift that led to Tuilagi's second Check try in the fifth minute.
Ireland's midfield of Gordon D'Arcy and Keith Earls was subjected when a backline move saw Mike Tindall send Manu Tuilagi bursting via a significant gap between Earls and Tommy Bowe. Positioned just external the 22, Tuilagi raced through the line with Jonny Wilkinson changing.
O'Gara and Wilkinson exchanged penalties, the second coming soon after a scrum of fluctuating fortunes that in the end completed with England driving forwards.
Ireland endured a setback in the 21st moment when Wallace was pushed from the pitch by a health care cart. The Munster openside, making his initial appearance of the summer season, twisted his proper knee while becoming tackled by Tuilagi and collapsed in ache ahead of receiving lengthy remedy. Denis Leamy arrived on to replace him and England have been also forced into a rejig when the lively Hendre Fourie went off hurt, resulting in Tom Palmer stepping off the bench and Courtney Lawes switching to blindside, while Delon Armitage changed Mark Cueto.
To compound Ireland's difficulties Jamie Heaslip left the pitch as the game's substantial attrition charge continued, but they completed the 50 percent with a flourish.
England's self-discipline was bad and the 2nd 50 % was barely a moment previous when the winger Chris Ashton was sent to the sin bin for killing the ball. O'Gara's penalty attempt struck the uprights and, regardless of being a gentleman up, Ireland slipped further powering when a clever grubber kick from Tindall noticed the substitute Delon Armitage touch down with Wilkinson converting.
O'Gara was replaced by Jonathan Sexton with twenty minutes to go and the Leinster fly-fifty percent set about kicking his group onto the front foot. The tactic labored fairly nicely as a major shower came and went, but Ireland had been missing the firepower essential to breach England, who closed out the match.
