The dog days of summer have the Miami Heat roasting — each other, that is.As the NBA lockout drags on, players are finding new and creative — although not always productive — ways to pass the time, and a lot of the time it involves social media in one way or another.Tuesday night, Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade got in on the action when they engaged in a Twitter war, firing barbs back and forth and cracking jokes about each other in front of more than 4 million combined followers. Most of Wade's tweets concerned James' appearance — especially his ever-receding hairline:• "What does men PLATFORM shoes and @KingJames LINING have in common?? They both gone and ain't NEVER coming back.."• "What does Dirk jumpshot and @KingJames LINEUP have in common??they both have hella ARC in the corners.."• "Yall couldn't think I was done-Wht does Morgan Freeman & @KingJames have n common?? They both been OLD-since we've known of em.."LeBron didn’t take long to fire back, and he made Wade’s feet the butt of his jokes:• "What does Ceasar from Planet of Apes and @DwyaneWade have in common? Tell Dwade to take his socks off and you'll see"• "What does Ronald McDonald and @DwyaneWade have in common? They both 6'2 and wear size 20 shoe!!"• "What does Limos and @DwyaneWade feet have in common? They both 25ft long and has 5x the tint limit on the windows/toe nails"Once the joking was over, both players made it a point to note that the jokes were, well, jokes, and not indicative of any negative feelings of each other."Jus gave yall alil insight of @KingJames & my relationship," Wade wrote. "its not tht serious people-We like to enjoy life and have fun-Were n on the jokes"Added James: "Yes sir! Are friendship goes beyond playing basketball! And we have no problem with making fun of ourselves!"(As of Wenesday morning, Wade had yet to fire a return crack about the difference between "our" and "are.")LeBron's hairline has been the topic of a number of jokes over the summer — including one-liners from fellow NBA stars Dwight Howard and Brandon Jennings — and recently, James, who has a history of taking himself way too seriously,  has even resorted to self-deprecating humor multiple times for the sake of a laugh. He sent a tweet making fun of his own hairline in August, and he recently sent out another message with a photoshopped image of him as a woman — he joked that it was his sister "LeBre'sha" — on a make-up ad.All of the joking is well and good, but it's probably a safe bet that fans around the country would rather see these guys playing basketball. Unfortunately, with the labor situation looking bleak, this may be all we have to look forward to for quite some time. You can follow Sam Gardner on Twitter!
