Justice is Served in Philadelphia Eagles Loss to Atlanta Falcons: Fan's Take

Contributor Network 7 minutes ago I don't have a whole lot of reason to crow over the Philadelphia Eagles' 35-31 loss on Sunday, Sept. 18 to the Atlanta Falcons. After all, my own beloved Miami Dolphins are an atrocious mess, and look like they're on ...

Eagles Signing Vick: One Smart Move

The acquisition of Michael Vick by the Philadelphia Eagles was a brilliant business move all the way around.
From the standpoint of on-the-field management it was a stroke of genius. Not only does Vick provide a quality veteran back up quarterback for the often of late, injury prone, Donovan McNabb but Vick's versatility, athleticism, quickness and knowledge make him a weapon that can be used at any number of offensive positions.
If the Eagles choose to have him on the field at the same time as McNabb (which they undoubtedly will), it gives them two capable quarterbacks on the field which would present nightmares to any defensive coordinator trying to defend them in a wildcat formation.
From a purely business standpoint, the Eagles get a quality veteran quarterback at a bargain basement price with the option to keep him or trade him and still get their money’s worth (front office smarts that the Detroit Lions could have used in the past).
For Vick himself, it is an opportunity for him to redeem himself both on and off the field. His reported .6 million contract should help him to take care of some of the enormous debt that he has and also contribute to charities supporting humane treatment for animals.
Vick will also have the oportunity to show that he can still play the game of football at the NFL level.
True enough, the Eagles are taking a risk in putting Vick on their team but it is a risk worth taking.
Despite his problems with the law, Michael Vick has always been a good player and quality teammate.
His longevity with the Atlanta Falcons proved that he had dependability and without the dog fighting incident, he would no doubt still be with the Falcons.
Michael Vick is an outstanding quarterback who made a tragic mistake and misjudgment in his actions. He has paid his debt to society and appears now to be on his way back to playing a game that he plays so well.
Let’s hope that Michael Vick seizes on the opportunity that he has been given and makes the most of it so the Philadelphia Eagles don’t regret giving him a second chance to play football.
